Proactive Disease Diagnosis

There are hundreds of eye diseases that we already know about. You may be lucky enough to avoid them all, but for many people, it’s a question of when, not if, they experience an eye disease. The single greatest preventative weapon is early diagnosis. And this is most easily accomplished with regular visits to our clinic.

Once an eye disease has been identified and diagnosed, it becomes infinitely easier to manage. Protecting your vision is our main objective at 2020 EyeCare, but we need a little bit of cooperation from you. Annual eye exams keep us informed about changes in your eyes and let us lower your eye health risks.

Understanding & Managing AMD

Right in the center of the retina, you will find the macula, a part of the eye responsible for central vision. This essential piece of the ocular system can begin to break down after the age of 55. This eye condition is known as age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Blurred vision and central black spots are common symptoms of AMD once the condition is established. These vision deficiencies are irreversible. Our comprehensive eye exams view the macula and observe any irregularities that could be the first sign of AMD. If AMD is occurring, the best answer is the trained eye of an optometrist at our practice.

When left untreated, this disease can develop into the much more serious Wet AMD, resulting in rapid vision loss. Wearing sunglasses and visiting our practice regularly are the best steps for prevention.

Seeing All the Symptoms

The hard truth is that many eye diseases grab a hold of your vision undetected. With some diseases, it is already too late once you notice blind spots or blurred vision; the effects are irreversible.

If you experience any of these symptoms regularly it’s best to contact us immediately.

Random or sudden flashes of light should not be occurring regularly. These could be symptoms of posterior vitreous detachment, a condition associated with the retina. They may be accompanied by floaters.

Thin black strands “floating” across your field of vision may be loose eye tissue. Independently, floaters are not a serious threat. But a sudden eruption of floaters means a potential eye emergency.

An inability to produce tears or keep lubricated eyes may indicate a serious eye condition. Dry eye syndrome is common and treatable but may be a sign of dangerous causes.

Myopia and other corneal shape changes typically occur between the ages of 6-18 years old. If major shape changes occurs later in life it may indicate another eye disease. There are proven methods to control myopia.

In addition to dry eye syndrome, this painful sensation can indicate conjunctivitis (pink eye), or a viral infection. Allergies may also cause eye irritation. Come see one of our optometrists and inquire about medicated eye drops to help relieve symptoms.

The Road to Recovery

By getting an in-depth look at every part of your eye, we can identify and confirm certain ocular ailments. More rare eye conditions may require a custom-tailored recovery, but common ailments can often be resolved with trusted recovery programs.

No matter what eye disease you have been diagnosed with, 2020 EyeCare is a partner in your recovery. Our goal is first and foremost to prevent eye disease. But when vision trouble is encountered we are your health defenders.

Glaucoma is a group of diseases that damage the optic nerve. Early detection is the best way to prevent it. Learn more about glaucoma and how we treat it.

Sometimes symptoms concerning blurred vision are due to cataracts. These are naturally forming proteins on your eye’s lens. We can able to resolve this condition in almost all patients. Learn more about cataracts and how we treat them.

Myopia is a genetic condition that lowers your overall vision. The eye changes shape and begins to reflect light abnormally. Corrective eyewear is a great way to remedy the effects of myopia. Learn more about myopia and how we treat it.
