Dr. Alex D. Gibberman is a native Cincinnatian and graduated from Sycamore High School before attaining his Bachelor of Science degree at the Pennsylvania State University. He graduated with clinical honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2014 in Philadelphia before returning home. He spent 6 years in private practice optometry before starting 2020 Eyecare.
Dr Gibberman has a specific interest in Scleral contact lens fitting for patients with difficult prescriptions, keratoconus, LASIK complications, and other corneal scars and abnormalities. He lectures on the topic nationally and is involved with training other eye care providers on the skill of fitting specialty scleral contact lenses. He is a fellow of the scleral lens education society, a distinction that currently only 6 other providers hold in the state of Ohio. Dr. Gibberman works closely with many local and regional corneal specialists to manage complicated cases. Aside from scleral contact lens fitting, Dr. Gibberman provides comprehensive optometric eyecare for a wide variety of conditions including dry eye, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, anterior uveitis, and macular degeneration.
He is a member of the Ohio Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. While in optometry school he was a member of the student optometric service to humanity, which raised money to provide eye examinations and eyeglasses in third world countries.
In his free time, Dr. Gibberman enjoys spending quality time with his wife who is also an optometrist, their dog Molly, and playing tennis, golf and traveling.
